PoW requires miners to solve complex mathematical puzzles to validate transactions and add them to the blockchain. This process requires a significant amount of computational power and energy consumption. On the other hand, PoS relies on validators who hold a certain amount of cryptocurrency to create new blocks and validate transactions. Compared to PoW, PoS consumes much less energy as it doesn't require extensive computational power. Therefore, PoS is considered to be more energy-efficient than PoW.
